One of the most impactful lessons I’ve learned in my career is the power of celebration.
During my time with the Magic Kingdom Park Communication Team, I was able to lead and execute a Disney Park Blog story where we told the story of a kind and determined man whose goal was to drive the Maleficent Dragon Float in the down good ol’ Main Street U.S.A.
On his 80th birthday, Larry Wrobel was set to accomplish this goal he had worked years for. His whole family had flown in from all over to support him. After our video team interviewed Larry, he was strapped into the float, ready to set off down that infamous street.
Working in the "Most Magical Place on Earth" taught me that sometimes, we have the opportunity to create a little extra magic in people's lives, and I saw that opportunity to make sure his family had a cherished and unforgettable experience, so we reserved the best seats for the family to watch their dad, grandpa, and husband live out his dreams (as well as get everybody some delicious Mickey-shaped sweets to contribute to the birthday). Seeing how hard he worked and how his whole family came together in a magical place to cheer him on truly taught me an unassuming yet powerful lesson.
As a (what I like to call myself - a Professional Storyteller) Marketer, I’ve made it my goal to tell stories both big and small with the power of celebration as the motivation. Whether the story I’m telling is celebrating a person’s accomplishments or celebrating the potential of what could be, I’m going to celebrate. Because we are often so quick to be hard on ourselves for any little thing, but so slow to be proud of something good that comes our way.
So, allow me to introduce myself—I'm Macie, and I'm here to be your biggest celebrator and cheerleader.
Connect with me, and let's tell powerful stories of celebration.
